FORT KENT, Maine - The Coast Guard conducted overflights yesterday for the Maine Emergency Management Agency to survey damage caused by flooding from spring run off and recent heavy rains in northern Maine. A Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., is prestaged in Frenchville, Maine, in the event air evacuations are necessary to rescue residents in areas hard hit by the flooding of the St. Johns and Fish rivers. The Coast Guard helicopter arrived in Presque Isle around 3:30 p.m., and will remain on standby throughout the night.
